NIBIO Landvik is a research institute located in Grimstad, Norway. We became an authorized seed company in 2000 and used to be Norway’s center for prebasic seed of forage grasses. Collection and multiplication of native grass seed for revegetation purposes started in 2007 through the projects ‘FJELLFRØ’ and ‘ECONADA’. In 2017 the project “Fra grasmark til blomstereng” initiated the collection of native wildflower seeds in the south of Norway to convert monotonous lawns and grasslands into flower rich meadows. Seeds from old meadows were gathered and sown to produce seeds for research, but also for sale. While the project ended, the collection and production of native wildflower seed continued. With help from several growers all over Norway we can now offer regional seed mixtures to gardeners, farmers and entrepreneurs interested in the well-being of pollinators, revegetation and/or ecological restoration. The results and experiences we get through research and cooperation with growers are made available on our web sites (see below), for example guides on how to establish and manage flowering meadows and how to produce native seeds. We also give advice on establishment and management of meadows to landowners, companies and authorities.
